Description

You will take a forest track with an ascending profile until the junction of route no. 18. By a pretty winding path you will arrive at Pont Bernard, then you will cross orchards to take you to the outskirts of the village of Peyruis.

You will climb a long track shared with No. 17 to La Bane. A technical path passes through several valleys to end on a track that will lead to the starting point.

Ganagobie's monastery

Nestled at the top a rocky plateau overlooking the Durance River, the Ganagobie Monastery is a landmark of Provençal heritage. Founded in the 10th century, this Cluniac priory, listed as a Historic Monument, houses a Benedictine community.Only the monastery church is accessible to visitors, from the end of Mass (around 10:15 a.m.) until 12:00 p.m., and in the afternoon from 2:00 p.m. onwards (after the office), in order to preserve the monastic community's way of life. During your visit, you can admire the Romanesque architecture, Father Kim En Joong's stained-glass windows, and the cloister—a 12th-century masterpiece of Romanesque art visible from inside the church through a glass window. Behind the church, the Monks' Alley leads to a cliffside cross offering a remarkable panoramic view of the Durance Valley. Parking is available in the visitors' car park at the entrance to the plateau. The path to the church is a short walk through a classified and protected natural site. Visitors with reduced mobility or walking difficulties may drive closer to the church. Monastery Shop & Archaeological Exhibition Opening Hours: - November to February: 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. - March, April, and October: 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. - May to September: 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Closed on Mondays (except public holidays and during July and August).

The MYTHICAL (or THE Mythical for the faithful), 120km with 3670m of elevation gain over 3 days. High-intensity, playful mountain biking for "Down-Country" enthusiasts. Specific trail markings (Day 1/Day 2/Day 3).A 3-day/2-night loop trip, staying in a gîte (dormitory or bed and breakfast room for an additional fee) and a 2-star hotel (dinner not included on day 2). Departing from the Val de Durance Tourist Office in Château-Arnoux. This trip requires a good level of physical fitness and technical ability. Bookings are available year-round for dates of your choice. Minimum 1 person, maximum 20 people. Day 1: Château-Arnoux > Peyruis 43km – 1170m D+ / 1085m D- Day 2: Peyruis > Château-Arnoux 49km – 1360m D+ / 1440m D- Day 3: Château-Arnoux > Château-Arnoux 32km – 890m D+ / 890m D- Longer or shorter GPX tracks possible for each day. Predictable : the picnic on the day of arrival.
