Description

In the heart of the Suran valley, an easy hike through the Comté lands, a landscape of meadows typical of the Jura mountains. Cross the river with views of its fords and discover Chavannes, la comtoise.

Base VTT Espace Revermont - FFCT signposting - n°6 - blue

Past the Suran bridge and the cheese dairy (AOP Comté), head for Grand-Corent. Before Banchin, turn left up the Suran (see fords) to the Bouverie mill. At the RD.936, turn left and immediately right towards Ferme des Pies.
In Chavannes, turn left on the D.3, cross the bridge and the campsite (see: petit Suran and wash-house). In the village, why not take a detour to the church and its historic lanes.
At the intersection with the RD. 42, turn right and then left on the 1st towards the Bois du Clapay (see the Gour de la Rande).
Go as far as Dhuys, cross the RD.936 to reach the hamlet of Thioles.
At Thioles, take the RD.42 to Simandre.

Nearby: Chavannes church, Chavannes shops, Menhir and fords of the Suran, château de Rosy, Chartreuse de Sélignac.

Prepare your outings according to your desires... descents, false flats and climbs follow one another at a good pace. Cross wild, damp valleys where the moss on the trees is omnipresent. everywhere. The scenery is astonishing. Play with the Revermont mountains and ride across the plateaus on pretty single tracks that alternate between forests, meadows, dry grasslands, hillsides and ridges. Ride along the banks of the Suran or through the narrow streets of picturesque villages. At 660 m, Mont Myon is probably the most sought-after symbol. Listed as a remarkable natural site, it remains a target for many hikers. The Ain Gorge, with its cliffs, wildlife, lookouts and wilderness, is another emblematic Revermont site.
