Enjoy this beautiful wooded hike to discover the magnificent 12th-century signal tower.
This easy walk offers views of Estenos, Fronsac and the plain from the shade of chestnut trees.
- Park your vehicle near the war memorial on the D618, where there is a small car park. Head towards the church, keeping it on your right. Turn left onto Chemin de Rebiremont, then right onto Chemin des Coustères.
- You are now on a tarmac path lined with chestnut trees. The path climbs slightly and passes under the high-voltage power line.
- At a fork, stay on the path in front of you (ignore the path on the left that goes downhill and the one on the right that leads to the water intake).
- Further on, you will see a sign on an oak tree indicating ""Chapelle d'Esputs"". The path becomes steeper and climbs sharply to the right. You will see the village of Estenos and pass by the spring.
- At a fork, take the steeper path on the right! Follow the yellow markings and the path will level out.
- At the next intersection, turn completely right onto the road going downhill. The road opposite will take you to the Esputs chapel (signposted).
- Continue down the steep descent, take a right turn then a left turn and you will pass under the high-voltage power line again.
- Follow the path downhill to the right, and you will see the pretty tower of Fronsac on your left.
- Follow the yellow markings down through the village, past the town hall and under the church to return to the war memorial, the starting point of the walk.
