A true green “ring route” around the metropolitan area, the “Aux balcons de la ville” trail offers a unique perspective on the Clermont-Ferrand basin. This 24.6-km route winds through the hills and slopes overlooking Clermont-Ferrand, Durtol, Chamalières, Royat, Ceyrat, Beaumont, and Aubière.
Highlights of the route:
• 100% accessible by public transit: Designed for sustainable transportation, this route can easily be started or ended at tram stations (e.g., Les Vignes, La Pardieu), T2C bus stops, or TER train stations.
• Can be done all at once or in sections: A flexible adventure that you can break up into several short walks as you wish or tackle as a single full day of hiking.
• Spectacular panoramic views: Enjoy sweeping views of the city of Clermont-Ferrand, the lava-stone cathedral, the Limagne plain, and the foothills of the Chaîne des Puys.
Difficulty: A steep climb starting from the School of Architecture and Chamalières High School toward the Cote du Bey.
