Le Puy of Saint Christophe

Le Puy of Saint Christophe
Le Puy of Saint Christophe

Description

An easy walk with lovely views over the Vénéon valley.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Starting point: Saint Christophe en Oisans
Elevation gain: 135 m
Total Duration: 1 1/2 hours
Distance: 1.7 km
Level : Easy

ROUTE
- Starting from the cemetery in Saint Christophe en Oisans, walk through the hamlet of Les Roures.
Carry on to the old Saint Christophe mill at the top of the Torrent du Diable stream. A few switchbacks then take you up to the statue of the Virgin Mary, the Vierge du Collet, overlooking the valley. The path then climbs gradually up to the hamlet of Le Puy, which used to have year-round residents and even a school, although it is now still inhabited in the summer.
- Here you have the option of making a loop via the Miroir des Fétoules lake. In this case, take the path above Le Puy signposted "Miroir des Fétoules". Then turn left at the junction to the small lake. Take care NOT to take the path signposted "Raye du Grand Travers" as this is very exposed.

EXTRA INFO
The size of the lake varies according to the season, but it offers fine views over the valley. It is called the "Miroir des Fétoules" because the Tête des Fétoules is reflected in the water.
There are also lovely views over Lauranoure and the Refuge de l'Alpe du Pin.
