The Girotte dam was built in 1946. It was the first in Beaufortain. It is one of the rare dam to be filled with the water coming from "Tré la Tête" glacier next to the Mont-Blanc. That is why the color of her water can be so special green.To get closer you will have to walk from Belleville.

Departure :
From Hauteluce take the direction of the resort of Hauteluce - Col du Joly - Les Contamines. Park in the hamlet of Belleville in the large car park at the foot of the cable car.
When you reach the road, take the path on the right that crosses the stream and follow the direction of Lac de la Girotte. Join the hamlet of Colombe.
Take the track that goes down to the right, then cross the stream on a bridge. The path continues along the edge of the forest until you reach the foot of the dam wall. From there, follow the track on the left to go up to the shepherd's cottage overlooking the lake. To return, retrace your steps for a hundred metres or so, then take the track that descends on the right to the Chalet "La Colombe". From there, take the same route as on the way out.
