Description

This family-friendly loop takes you through a wild natural environment, with the added bonus of the pretty Jacquicourt Chapel.
The Plateau de Loëx is a protected Natura 2000 area. There are some remarkable plant and animal species here. Jacquicourt Chapel was built in 1679 and it marks the border between Taninges, Verchaix and Les Gets. The same year it was destroyed due to dispute over the border lines between pastures. It was then rebuilt according to the original plans between 1986 and 1989, therefore putting an end to six centuries of conflict.

1/ Then after around 500 m, follow a quite steep forest path to the left until you reach the Chalet de Veruy (1,570m). From there you’ll have a beautiful view of the Col de Joux Plane, the Pointe de Chamossière and Pointe de la Bourgeoise.
2/ After the chalet, go along the track to the left that leads onto a small footpath until the end of the trail, via Jacquicourt Chapel.
3/ After the Chapel, the itinerary leads down through the forest and then along a narrow road until you get back to the departure point.
