Circuit through Bois Calane and Bois des Pommes. At the start of the tour, you'll pass by the Polleteins farm (former vestige of the now-defunct Chartreuse de Polleteins) and the Dimanche pond.
Close to the ViaRhôna and the Voie Bleue, the Dombes is also a great area for cycling, walking and horse-riding! It's up to you to choose your itinerary and means of transport...
Breathe in, breathe out, you're in the Dombes.
Imagine the Dombes, land of a thousand ponds, as a festival of colors, scents and sounds. The deep blue of the water contrasts with the many greens of the vegetation. The intermittent concert of frogs is accompanied by the songs of wild birds. Sit back for a moment and watch the ballets on the calm waters of the ponds. The grey heron, master of the area, may even grace you with its presence!
So, what could be better than a stroll to visit and discover the Dombes in slow motion?

Departure from the Mionnay station parking lot.
When you leave the parking lot, turn left and cross the railroad tracks.
At the Polleteins sign, turn right towards Bois Roux and follow the avenue of plane trees to the crossroads. Turn right and follow the road for about 700m.
Enter Bois Calane and follow the dirt path. Be careful: in wet weather, the path can be muddy. Continue along this path until you reach the end of the forest. On the right you'll see the Prarieux pond, and on the left a typical Dombes equestrian center.
At the Étang Calane signpost, continue straight ahead towards Étang de Meaux (the pond no longer exists, it's now a lieu-dit), then a few metres further on, straight ahead again. The path crosses the Bois Roux. Here too, in wet weather, the path can be muddy. At the end of the wood, continue straight ahead.
At the signpost, continue towards Étang de Meaux, then turn left at the crossroads towards Ferme de Meaux and continue for about 200m.
At the Étang de Meaux signpost, take the dirt track on the left towards "Les Cabanes". Follow this path along the fields and through the red wood. Go straight on until you reach the end of the wood and turn right onto the tarmac road. Follow this road for about 400m, which becomes a dirt track. Continue to the crossroads.
At the La Guicharde sign, go straight on towards Etang Dimanche, then turn left. After about 100 m, you'll come to Etang Dimanche. There's a bench where you can rest and watch the birds.
Continue, leaving the Château de Polleteins on your right.
Once you've reached the Polleteins signpost, head back in the direction of the station.
