Mont Brouilly, between vines and culture - Beaujolais - Saint-Lager

Mont Brouilly, between vines and culture - Beaujolais - Saint-Lager

Description

Mont Brouilly, an outpost of the Saône plain, captivates visitors with its chapel, its interpretive trails, and its panoramic views of the Alps and the Massif Central. The geoscope completes the discovery by revealing the geology of Beaujolais.

You'll love:
• The beauty of Mount Brouilly, which stands as an outpost in the Saône plain, with the chapel located at its summit.
• The interpretive trails, featuring illustrated panels and whimsical sculptures.
• Two panoramas for two opposing slopes: the first, at the top of Mount Brouilly, facing the Alps, from the belvedere equipped with an orientation table. The second faces the Massif Central.
• The geoscope, a site designed to understand the geology of Beaujolais.

You'll enjoy it best:
• Summer evenings, with a picnic and a session of observing the starry sky. Bring your telescope.
• During many festivities: "EspaceBrouilly Quiz."
• In Saint-Lager, by opening the door to the Espace des Brouilly, a boutique dedicated to AOC Brouilly and Côte-de-Brouilly.
• By strolling through the Clos Vitis, a garden dedicated to viticulture in the center of Saint-Lager.

A little culture:
Mount Brouilly
Mount Brouilly offers a gentle atmosphere, a blend of pine and deciduous forests, vineyards, and hidden trails at an altitude of 484 meters. The presence of the chapel adds a mystical touch to the summit. The mountain is composed of magmatic and sedimentary materials. A fertile terroir composed of bluestones was born from this heritage.

Spiritual sentinel of the vineyard
Legend speaks of Brulius, an officer in the Roman army, who gave his name to the hill and planted vines. Today, the Gamay grapes harvested on its steep slopes produce the AOC Brouilly and Côte-de-Brouilly grapes, along with single-plot vintages.
In the 19th century, to protect their vineyards from attacks by frost, hail, and powdery mildew, winegrowers had the Notre-Dame-des-Raisins chapel built.
