The attractions of the route
The views of Montrottier, which, like a trompe-l’oeil, gives the impression of being a perched village or, on the contrary, nestled in the hollow of the hills, the panoramas of the cure facing the Lyonnais mountains,
then that of Bois d'Armont and Croix du Fol facing the Alps and Forez.
The town, for its historical heritage.
The traditional peasant architecture which was harmoniously considered according to natural resources. The dry stone makes it one of its particularities. Taken on the site, in nearby quarries, or from ruins, it is the charm of low walls and farms that can be admired along the paths.
On the way back, the chapel of Saint-Martin des Périls, the oldest part of which dates back to the medieval origins of Montrottier.
When and how to take advantage of it?
With curiosity and a sense of observation to take the time to discover the discreet riches of the local heritage
In the form of “natural” cures for the seasons:
—Autumn and winter olfactory care: walk while intoxicated by the scents of moss or mushrooms from the undergrowth or by warming up internally with the warm smells of the first fireplace fires.
—Spring and early summer radiance treatment: let the flamboyant yellow of the broom in full bloom along certain paths dazzle the eye.
—“Oxygen” care for the summer: Montrottier is one of the towns in the Monts du Lyonnais where the high temperatures are more bearable for going for a walk and getting some fresh air in the countryside.
