You arrive in front of an old quarry where you can see some sandstone extraction marks used for the mills. Cross the stream “La Baye” and turn right on the steep path. This path goes along the stream in beautiful surroundings. You will pass a first mill in ruins. Continue straight on to go to the mill of Prat-Ferrand. Turn right on the hairpin bend to go up to the village of Villevayre. At the last bend you can have a look at a small cave if you turn right and continue for 100 meters. Otherwise continue to go up to Villevayre.
Cross the village and continue straight on the road going to Villefranche/Najac. Go through a first small hamlet by turning lightly on the left at the crossroads and continue as far as the hamlet of Baussaguet. Once at the road turn right and immediately left on the forest trail going down to Najac. Follow the signs all along this path as far as the road. Turn left to get to the medieval bridge and left again (before the bridge) to go back along the river to your starting point.
Back to the entrance of the campsite Le Païsserou
This gothic bridge was built in the 13th century, along the primitive road witch led toward Villefranche de Rouergue. It allowed merchants and pilgrims to cross the Aveyron river in all seasons, on their way to Saint Jacques de Compostelle.
