ITINERARY
The path starts off on the famous GR 54 path (Tour de l’Oisans), and then
climbs up steadily to pass the Anna Falque’s step. Here is the start of the Villar d’Arène mountain pasture, called « Plan de l’Alpe », where flocks of sheep come to graze every summer. The refuge enjoys an unrestricted view on
Les Agneaux, La Chamoissière or the Col d’Arsine. The start is also possible from the Col du Lautaret, on the track called « Sentier des crevasses », a sometimes vertiginous path sculpted out of the schist rocks face, accompanied with ecology information signs. From this path, the view over La Meije and its glaciers is magnificent! From left to right: the Pointe Nérot (3538m), on which the Glacier du Fauteuil is suspended, the Pic Gaspard (3881m), the Glacier du Lautaret in the middle, La Meije (the Pic Oriental, 3891m, the Doigt de Dieu, 3973m, and the Grand Pic, 3982m), the Glacier de l’Homme and the Trois Hommes (2933m).
