Serres-Morlaàs : forêt de Lahitau

From the car park in front of the town hall and school, head south down rue de l'église. At the crossroads, keep to the left-hand side of the road. Follow the pretty grassy path. At the end once you are on the Chemin du Guithou, turn right and take the first track on the left opposite a farm. Walk along this path some parts are shaded by oak trees until you reach the junction of four tracks.

Turn west (right) onto the D538. Head towards Serres-Morlaàs, and at the entrance sign, follow the forest path. At the entrance to the wood, go down the pebble track. Just before the exit, leave the track for a charming path that runs deep into the oak grove. Follow the yellow markings on the trunks and stay on the track. Leave the path on the left just before you reach a field.

Follow the meadow on the left and cross the Luy de Béarn at the corner of the wood. Follow the stream to the right, then the track that leads to a local road. Go up this road and at the calvary, take the street opposite. This is where your calves are going to heat up! Ignore the left-hand road and climb straight up to a path between the houses. This steep climb leads to the D538. Turn right and at the crossroads, head back up towards the church.
