Caution: the route includes a very technical descent near the start and sections that can be very muddy at any time of year.
From the central square in Saint-Jodard, lined with plane trees that lend it a touch of Provençal charm, the route descends steeply to the banks of the River Loire. Leaving the Pont de la Vourdiat on your left, follow the scenic road along the river. The route then climbs gently to the outskirts of Neulise before descending through some enjoyable technical sections to the hamlet of Chez Marthel. The pleasant return journey offers magnificent panoramic views of the Forez mountains.
