BOUCLE DE BECANE
Description
This route is strongly discouraged in wet weather. A short loop with steep climbs.
Notes:
- You can start from the village of Pechbusque; begin the route description from point 3/ at the foot of the wayside cross; there is a car park on the village square, next to the school.
- A steep, narrow descent for 200 metres after point 1/, which is slippery in wet weather.
- Steep but shaded climbs after point 2/ and between point 3/ and the start.
- Water points in Pechbusque in front of the school playground and behind the community hall.
Start from Vieille-Toulouse: On the shaded village square, opposite the town hall (the former Borde Haute farm).
Practical advice for mountain bikers:
Numerous steep slopes; this loop is not recommended for inexperienced riders.
At point 1/, there is a narrow path with a very steep gradient, which is slippery in wet weather – dismount and walk.

Detailed stages
- From the town hall forecourt, take the tree-lined tarmac road leading down towards the church, and carry on straight ahead. At the bend (with a view of Pechbusque Church), carry on straight ahead along the grassy path that runs alongside the cemetery until you reach a junction.
- At the junction, carry straight on along the stony track. In front of the gate of the first house, turn immediately left (hairpin bend) onto a path that runs alongside the hedge and leads down into the woods (take care, as the path is slippery in wet weather). Head back up and carry on straight ahead until you reach a junction with another path.
- Head straight ahead and follow the red and white markings of the GR653, the Way of St James (with a view of the Toulouse conurbation). Follow this path for about 700 metres to reach Pechbusque Church. Turn left and take the Grand’Rue de la Mairie. Walk past the school and a mission cross. Walk alongside Planet Castle until you reach the junction.
