At the bend in the path, the winegrowers' houses are revealed. Small workers' houses or winegrowers' estates, they recall the history of this emblematic district of Thionville. The oldest, in its luminous Jaumont, dating from the 16th century, rubs shoulders with the more geometric architecture of the 21st century. At the top, the apotheosis! In the shelter of the century-old wine press, the view opens up and the landscape offers a view of the Moselle valley.

For centuries Guentrange's vineyard was an important economic reality for Thionville and the Moselle. To our knowledge, the first mention of a press in Thionville dates back from the Burgundian period, on February 14th, 1468. The large communal press was given to the bourgeoisie and wine-growers of Thionville.
In 1876, 800 German Protestants requested the construction of a place of worship dedicated to them. Characteristic of Protestant architecture at the end of the 19th century, the temple is surprisingly similar to Catholic churches. Neo-Gothic in style, much favored by the Germans, it features an elongated plan, a tower, a polygonal chevet and, above all, the use of the famous Jaumont stone. The large rose on the façade is particularly reminiscent of the architectural styles of Catholic churches. The interior decoration and colorful stained glass windows are also in the neo-Gothic style. The sobriety of the premises is reminiscent of the religious precepts valued by Protestants.
At the junction of two streets, it passes incognito. In the midst of the neighborhood's residences, it could be mistaken for a wealthy bourgeois home. Yet Thionville's synagogue welcomes its faithful at every celebration. The Star of David gives the synagogue its religious identity, recognizing its use and worship. Its square structure gives it an imposing exterior. Resolutely modern, it contrasts with other religious architecture. This is the secret of synagogues: to blend into the mass and take on the appearance of their surroundings.
