A tour that will allow you to appreciate many typical villages in the heart of the Châtaigneraie such as Calvinet, your starting point (at the church) or the ‘chestnut village’, Mourjou. There are superb viewpoints on a very varied route, including the Aubrac plateau, the north of Aveyron and the Rance Valley. Numerous rich and varied panoramas due to a fairly long circuit crossing several different types of landscape (forest, plain, countryside, towns).

Maison de la Châtaigne
The Châtaigneraie Ecomuseum.A playful discovery of the chestnut production history and present in the region. A 1950s grocery store, an oven, a typical chestnut dryer, a medieval tunnel, but also an orchard, a tree nursery and diverse animals complete the tour. You will taste a chestnut specialty and you will find a range of chestnut products in the shop. April, May & June: open every day 2pm-6pm except Mondays. July & August: open every day 1:30pm-6:30pm. From September to 11/11: open every day 2pm-6pm except Mondays. Discovery path on the shady banks of the Célé (“Les Trésors du Haut-Célé”, 3,2 km).
L'Estanquiol Pond
L’Estanquiol: free swimming area supervised in July and August everyday afternoons. Fishing activity (1st category = whitefish): Specific local card on sale at the Calvinet post office: 5 trout per day, €6 per adult per day or €40 per season.
Le Pré des Étangs fishing pond
Carp especially and other large fish (no kill). Barbless hooks. Access authorised to one half of the pond only, the other half being reserved for campsite guests. Fishing license required: Daily (€13), weekly (€35) or yearly permits (€85), on sale at www.cartedepeche.fr or at the campsite Le Cantalou or from the above stockists.
