E-Mountain Bike Route No. 12 – Lake Joux
Description
A scenic e-MTB loop from Mont d’Arbois to Lac de Joux, via Mont Joux. A steady climb, breathtaking views and a peaceful finish by a mountain lake!
This e-MTB route starting from Mont d’Arbois offers a magnificent high-altitude escape, taking in mountain pastures, panoramic ridges and a high-altitude lake. The climb begins towards Mont Joux along a wide, smooth track through the pastures. The electric assistance makes it easy to tackle the steeper gradients.
Once at the summit of Mont Joux, an exceptional panorama opens up over the Mont Blanc massif, the Aravis and the Fiz. It’s the perfect moment for a photo stop or a snack.
The route then continues towards Lac de Joux, a little gem high up in the mountains, nestled in lush greenery. Arriving at the lake is a moment of true calm and coolness, ideal for a contemplative break or a picnic.
You can return via the same route or via a smoother alternative.

Wearing a helmet and protective gear is strongly recommended; a mountain bike suitable for downhill riding with an appropriate braking system is required. A mountain biking guide is available from all bike hire companies in the valley as well as at the Tourist Information Offices.

Starting point: G2 of the Bettex / Mont d'Arbois cable car
As you leave the cable car station, turn left onto Route des Crêtes (a 4x4 track) heading towards Mont Joux.
You will pass by the “Chez la Tante” chalet and near the top station of the Croix chairlift.
Continue along the path towards the summit of Mont Joux.
Once at the summit, leave Route des Crêtes on your left and head towards Lac de Joux.
You have arrived.
To return to the cable car, take the path back towards Mont-Joux, then follow the trail running beneath the Mont-Joux ridge towards the top station of the Croix chairlift.
Take the 4x4 track back towards the Bettex / Mont d'Arbois cable car.
