Moulin - Le Villaret par la Tachonière (Boucle)

Place of prayer, open daily thanks to the volunteers of the village. Its existence is proved true since 1638. The inside as well as the facade were renewed in 2010-2012.The chancel is sheltered behind a beautiful turned wood grate. The central altarpiece is occupied by a picture which represents the coronation of the Virgin by the trinity, with Saint Peter, Saint-Paul and Saint Barthelemy (carrying his own skin on his right hand and a butcher knife. Barthelemy was one of the twelve apostles. Tortured to death, skinned alive. He is the patron saint of the tanners: the tanneries of the valley were settled at le Villaret.) The decoration of the chapel is in red and blue tones, with many angels. On sides: saint François de Sales, patron saint of Savoy, Saint Jean the evangelist, with the eagle at his feet. Above on the left: Saint-Maurice of Agaune, patron saint of the House of Savoy, to the right: saint Michel bringing down the dragon. We shall notice the beautiful beam of glory with the crucifixion, Saint Marie and Saint Jean.

The oldest and biggest chapel of the valley.The current chapel dates of 1449. It was formerly in the highest point of the village but the road and the urbanization "hidden" it just a little. It is not in a very good condition but keeps all its charm. One of the most livable thanks to the parishioners of Moulin. The rosary is recited during all the month of Mary. The chapel is opened almost always in the day. Sainte Agathe is one of the Saints very worshipped in Savoie. She is celebrated on February 5th and it is a custom to make a cake in the shape of hand or of breast. Born in Catania in Sicily, she was very beautiful and the Roman proconsul Quinten fell in love with her. He begged her to marry him but she refused. Then he called on a woman who was considered as distracting the girls, but this one failed. Quinten placed her under arrest and tortured Agathe unsuccessfully. In a jealous rage, he made her two breasts cut, but in a movement of protection she had a cut hand. To the surprise of the proconsul, the next day, Agathe had found the hand and its breasts. To put an end to this, he made her burn. But when the fire was lit, an earthquake and an eruption shook the island. Sainte Agathe "arrived" in Savoie where she was used against the fires in villages and she also became the boss of the young mothers and the nursemaids.

The design inside the parish church of PEISEY is exceptional in all Tarentaise.The church, perched at the top of the village, was built between 1685 and 1720, on the place of a more former church. It is one of rare in Tarentaise must to be still surrounded with its cemetery, real small panoramic garden. The outside of the church remains sober, with the exception of the portal. The bell tower is the highest of Tarentaise (50m).
