Haut Beaujolais - Mont Saint Rigaud - Loop 4.2

Haut Beaujolais - Mont Saint Rigaud - Loop 4.2

Description

The loops of Haut Beaujolais are an invitation to calm on the highest peaks of the Rhône department. The courses are punctuated with beautiful bumps, always shaded.

Sporty side
Slightly difficult route that crosses mostly Douglas fir forests. The profiles are quite similar to the 4.1 loop. For very experienced cyclists, chaining routes 4.1 and 4.2 (i.e. 100 km with 1,900 m of elevation gain) will give them great pleasure.

Tourism side
The forest cover that covers the Haut Beaujolais hides the Mont Saint-Rigaud, the highest point of the Rhône. To admire the panorama it offers from the top of its 1,012 metres, you have to climb the tower built on the site. A 360° orientation table details the mountain ranges visible on a clear day from the Alps to the Massif Central. The Saint-Rigaud site is also dotted with panels evoking its miraculous source and its distant past as a place of worship.
