Fort des Salettes from La Vachette

From the heights of La Vachette, this forest trail crosses the torrent de Malefosse under the Enrouye crest to reach the Fort des Salettes via a small balcony path overlooking the Durance.

From the parking lot at the entrance to the hamlet of La Vachette, head towards the church of Notre-Dame de l'Annonciation, then turn left just after the church onto the asphalt road which rises steeply.

Follow this asphalt road for a few metres, then turn left up the lane until you reach the heights of La Vachette. Continue along this route, which crosses a clearing and the gullied Malefosse torrent.

Cross this gully to take the opposite route.

The little path then rises into the forest for around 100 m to reach a small forest chalet: take the wide forest track just above the chalet and descend it for 100 m.

At the fork of two forest tracks upstream of the bend, leave this track to take the small forest path directly opposite. This then splits in two: take the left-hand path towards Fort des Salettes.

This path gradually descends below the L'ombre rock, then rises again, followed by a succession of short ascents and descents on balconies, until it reaches the Fort des Salettes in the Bois de la Pinée, below the Croix de Toulouse.
