The Lariey cemetery, also known as the Plague Cemetery

This clock face, located on the bell tower of the Church of Puy-Saint-Pierre and dating from 1994, is engraved and painted on plaster in the lancet polar style. It bears the motto: “Time leads to eternity. Those who know how to make good use of it will find happiness.”This sundial, which declines in the afternoon, has numbered lines at the ends. Its style is polar lanceolate: this means that it points towards the North Star and is parallel to the Earth's axis of rotation. In this case, the time is marked by the entire shadow of the style. This style is placed in the north-south plane. The angle of the style with the horizontal plane is equal to the geographical latitude of the sundial's location. It is said to be lanceolate because of the spear-like shape at the end of the style.

Sitting on a rocky promontory overlooking Briançon, Saint-Pierre church is of rather simple construction. Restored in 1902, it is appreciated for its clarity and elegance.The church of Puy-Saint-Pierre was built in the 15th century and refurbished in the 16th century following a fire during the wars of religion. A stone, to the left of the entrance door, engraved in part in Provençal, commemorates this fact. On the wall of the bell tower, you can see a sundial whose motto invites you to meditate on the passing time. Inside, you will find a church consisting of a central nave flanked by two side chapels. The gallery of the Penitents, located above the nave, houses the instruments of the brotherhood. Do not forget to cross the adjacent cemetery to reach the cross, at the foot of which you will find the tomb of Maurice Petsche, a high-alpine personality, to admire the view over Briançon and the Durance valley.

Built on a natural promontory 2,292 meters above sea level below the summit of Prorel, the Notre-Dame-Des-Neiges chapel was erected in 1751 in honor of the Blessed Virgin and offers a vast panorama of Briançon and its valleys.Culminating at a height of 2,292 meters above the Puys du Prorel, it was erected in 1751 in honor of the Blessed Virgin on a small, rounded natural promontory. The story goes that around 1710, a shepherdess from Puy-Saint-Pierre lost control of her horse while grazing her flock on the Prorel mountain pastures. Praying to the Virgin Mary for her life, she was granted her wish and a small chapel was built. Later, in 1751, the local people built the sanctuary of the current chapel, 200 m from the first. In 1829, a new building was erected to provide overnight accommodation, with a vast nave and gallery built in front of the sanctuary. Restoration work was carried out in 1904 (construction of a choir, repair of the original foundations, of the gallery ceiling, of the grid separating the nave from the sanctuary, repair and extension of the roof), 1951 and 1966.
