Description

Hike offering the opportunity to admire all the beauty of a mountain lake. At the foot of Mont Charvin and in the heart of the alpine pastures, the lake is a veritable treasure trove of nature to be discovered.
Between Savoie and Haute-Savoie, Mont Charvin is the southern tip of the Aravis. Its ascent is not easy, this route allows to admire it more easily, by accessing its lake.

Explore the Charvin mountain pastures, the emblematic cheese production site of the Thônes Valley: the reblochon. During your walk, you will pass by the alp of Freu.
Take the time to immerse yourself in the pastoral life of Charvin by exchanging with the alpagist, during a gourmet break on the farm.

After the passage under the imposing rock of the Goenne, the lake is revealed. Nestled in the heart of Mont Charvin, this natural Cirque offers a magnificent landscape.

L'Aulp de Marlens refuge

The GAEC des Cimes offers you a warm welcome throughout the summer, at the foot of Mont Charvin, 45 minutes from Thones. Would you like to try an alpine pasture meal, or a night in the refuge? It's all possible, and of course you're welcome.First and foremost, we're farmers, with cows and goats to make cheese: AOP Reblochon Fermier, AOP Chevrotin and PGI Savoie Tomme. Don't hesitate to stop by for a tasting at the chalet, to try our produce, for a snack or even a full-blown meal. Thursdays we offer a special welcome to show you our work and our environment. And if you dream of a night closer to the stars, you can sleep in the refuge next to our chalet and workshop. You can observe the various activities of the alpine pasture.

Lac du Charvin

Lac du Charvin, a natural high altitude lake, located at an altitude of about 2000m.This natural lake is located in a magnificent cirque at the foot of Mont Charvin. It is a unique place, which requires protective measures. Climb a little more towards the Goenne ridge and you will come across a beautiful view of the Mont Blanc and Beaufortain mountains. Meet our mountaineers in summer and come back with a good cheese from our mountains. 2 mountain pastures are located on this path: The Aulp of Fier d'En Haut Aulp De Fier d'En Bas Please respect the parks and fences, making sure to close it behind you. When you arrive at Lac du Charvin, we recommend that you go as far as the ridge of the Aravis range to get a view of Savoie, which lies behind our range, and Mont Blanc. Starting point : Park in the Sous l'Aiguille car park, following the hamlet La Charmette from the village of Manigod. 2/ From the post "The Sardoches (Parking)", take the direction of the "Lac Charvin".

3/ Always follow the direction of "Lac du Charvin", you will pass by "La Praz", "L'Aulp de Marlens", "Pied de la Combe", "Col des Porthets" and "Pas du Lac".

4/ When you arrive at Lake Charvin, you return to the starting point by the same route as on your way out.
