Located in the heart of the Loing valley, the Cercanceaux site brings together around the abbey, two sensitive natural areas: the Cercanceaux marsh of more than 29 hectares and the Cercanceaux sand pit of more than 100 hectares.
The ecological interest of the Cercanceaux site, located in the lower valley of the Loing, lies in the diversity of the wetlands: ponds, streams and rivers, meadows, ponds and marshes. Each of them constitutes a habitat for a particular flora and fauna thus offering a remarkable biodiversity. Wet meadows, ponds and marshes are endangered environments that need to be restored to safeguard the ecological heritage.
From this 5.5 km route, the visitor discovers the faunistic and floristic heritage specific to each environment: marshes, ponds, streams, wet meadows and ponds.
A certain number of developments have been carried out in order to welcome the public to these sensitive natural areas: rehabilitation of parking areas, installation of a wooden pedestrian route above the marshy part, restoration of paths, installation of three walkways to ensure the continuity of paths, benches and the installation of appropriate signage.
