Hiking in the older neighbourhoods
Description
A short hike which gives you the opportunity to discover the old quarters of Brassac as well as beautiful views in the countryside.
Time: 2 hour - Distance: 6.5 km
You’ll start your hike on the 12th century bridge that links the castles on each bank of the Agout river. You will then pass through the oldest quarters of the village and by some nice viewpoints.

Emprunter le vieux pont de Brassac ( datant du XIIe siècle), qui enjambe la rivière Agout et permet de relier les deux châteaux du village; château de Belfortès (château de la Marquise) et celui de Castelnau (Mairie).

Prendre à droite la Rue du Moulin. On aperçoit à droite une maison à colombages qui date du Moyen-Age et qui abritait autrefois l'échoppe d' un artisan. Continuer tout droit sur le quai de la Fourtounarié. Longer l'Agout, puis suivre à gauche sur le chemin de Monségou.

A la fourche, monter sur la gauche ( en continuant à droite, on rejoint la piscine). Passer au dessus du village vacances et rejoindre la D62. Prudence en traversant.

Prendre la petite route à gauche qui monte vers la conduite forcée. Beau point de vue sur la vallée. Passer sous la conduite et suivre le chemin en sous-bois.

A la fourche, prendre à gauche. On rejoint la rue de la Fusarié que l'on suit sur la droite. Ensuite prendre à gauche sur le chemin du Luzertet

Faire 200 mètres, puis prendre le chemin goudronné. Faire 100 mètres et prendre le petit sentier qui monte à droite. A l'angle du champ, continuer sur la droite jusqu'à la route, que l'on descend sur la gauche. Point de vue sur à droite sur la commune de Castelnau de Brassac et à gauche sur Brassac.

Suivre le chemin qui descend sur la gauche. On rejoint la D622 que l'on suit sur la droite. Prudence en traversant

Laisser l'entrée du lotissement et prendre la route de Penrieu. Passer le chantier de granit. Après la petite grange , tourner à gauche.

Le sentier est d'abord à découvert, puis s'enfonce dans un tunnel de végétation. Descendre le talus et continuer à droite sur un ancien béal (canal) qui amenait l'eau au moulin foulon (pressage du drap) .

Passer derrière l'ancienne usine et traverser le pont. On rejoint l'emprise du sentier du petit train 'de Castres à Brassac) que l'on suit jusqu'à la place de la gare.

Passer devant la caserne des pompiers, puis tourner à gauche et suivre la rue des Barris. Vous vous retrouverez au centre du village.
