Combejac Walk

Château Lacaze
Sentier de Combejac
Machine à vapeur
Credit : Margaux Ricard

Description

Duration: 4 hours – Distance: 13 km
This undulating trail, which is not particularly difficult, will take you through meadows and woods, and along the ridges overlooking the Gijou valley. Why not also explore the village of Lacaze and its 15th-century castle?

Car park GPS coordinates: 43.737171, 2.520003

At the start (or finish), discover the heritage of the village of Lacaze, designated a “Petite Cité de Caractère”, with its 15th-century castle and fountain, both listed as historic monuments.
The route winds through forests and sunken lanes, and from the ridges you can enjoy beautiful views over Lacaze and the Gijou valley. Along the way, you’ll also come across examples of rural heritage (hamlets, farms, drinking troughs, etc.), particularly in St Pierre de Combejac with its church and a steam engine.
The castle is a cultural tourist attraction hosting exhibitions, artistic creations, performances and seminars. It is also open to visitors all year round, subject to opening hours and days.
Make the most of the historical trail to explore the village’s charming little streets (guided tours of the village and castle are available by booking with the tourist office; on Tuesdays at 6 pm in summer).
