The Bessède path
Description
Time: 1 hour - Distance: 3.5 km
Small loop between the village of Lacaze and viewpoints at the countryside. A small section of the path that’s going down to the village, is very narrow.
A small loop takes you to discoveries of historical and natural treasures in the village of Lacaze and the hamlet of La Bessède. Be careful, there’s a small, very narrow section on the way back down to the village.

A la sortie du parking prendre à gauche passer sur le pont qui enjambe le Gijou (beau point de vue sur le château) et continuer en face jusqu'à l'ancienne gendarmerie (grand bâtiment de plusieurs niveaux ) la contourner en prenant la rue à gauche et de suite à droite pour rejoindre la D81.
Déviation temporaire à l'ancienne gendarmerie
Durant les travaux de restauration de l'ancienne gendarmerie ne pas passer à gauche sous la gendarmerie mais continuer tout droit jusqu'à la route D81 et prendre à gauche

Sur la D81 à 50m prendre la route qui monte à droite. Suivre la route puis le chemin qui passe devant le cimetière et aboutit au hameau de la Bessède.

Dans le hameau de La Bessède prendre le chemin qui descend à gauche. Laisser à droite le chemin de liaison avec la randonnée de St Jean del Frech puis plus bas à droite celui avec la randonnée du Petit Train. Le sentier devient alors très étroit mais offre de belles vues sur Lacaze.

L'intersection avec la D81 est en pente et entre deux rochers : pas de visibilité pour les voitures. Faire attention avec des enfants. Sur la D81 prendre à gauche puis la deuxième rue à droite qui descend en contrebas. La prendre la 1ère rue à droite qui vous amène sur le pont, une fois traversé prendre la rue qui monte en face puis la première rue à droite qui vous ramène au parking.

Do you want to become a knight of Lacaze? We suggest you play a little game to discover the village and the castle. Don't forget to ask for your equipment, which will be lent to you free of charge.To show the lord of Lacaze that you can do it, you need to prove your observational skills. To do this, pick up the map of the tour you'll be doing at the castle reception desk. Put on your equipment (shield, sword and knight's chasuble) and follow the map as you make your way around the castle through the narrow streets of the village. Remember, you'll be asked a number of questions to sharpen your observational skills, so take a good look around you and take note of the answers. These answers will give you a password. Give it to the reception desk and you'll be given your knight's diploma.
Lacaze, a small town full of character
This picturesque medieval village nestling in the Gijou valley boasts a castle that once belonged to the powerful Bourbons-Malauze family. Lacaze is also very popular with nature lovers and fishing enthusiasts.This magnificent little medieval village, listed as a "Petite cité de caractère", nestles in the Gijou valley in the Monts de Lacaune. Don't miss out on a guided tour of the castle in summer, or a group visit all year round by prior arrangement. On the way to Lacaze, we also recommend a short diversions to the "forgotten" hamlet of Camalière and the fortified chapel of St Jean del Frech. There is also a waterfall at St Michel de Léon.
