Crapauduc
De nombreux amphibiens se reproduisent dans les étangs du secteur. Ils y naissent, grandissent et y retournent chaque année au printemps pour s'accoupler. Le reste de l’année, la grande majorité d’entre eux vit sur terre dans les forêts, les berges des cours d’eau ou les jardins. La protection de ces amphibiens passe par la préservation de leurs habitats mais aussi des voies empruntées lors de leurs migrations. Depuis le début des années 2000, les associations locales et le Parc tentent, par diverses mesures, de limiter la mortalité routière des amphibiens. Dans les zones les plus empruntées, sont installés le long des routes, soit des équipements pérennes comme le long de la route vers Baillon, soit, de février à fin mars, des « barrages » mobiles. Dans ce cas, pendant près de deux mois, des bénévoles recueillent les animaux qui ne peuvent plus traverser et les relâchent de l’autre côté de la route. Des milliers de batraciens sont alors sauvés des voitures.
Fontaine aux Moines
Viarmes étant bâti sur une couche géologique imperméable,l’eau de la forêt de Carnelle, située sur le plateau, jaillit en de nombreuses sources aménagées. Au 13ème siècle, un remarquable réseau d’approvisionnement en eau potable est mis en oeuvre par les moines de l’abbaye royale de Royaumont. Des canalisations sont ainsi creusées jusqu’à l’abbaye pour alimenter le site en eau potable. Elles sont entrecoupées de regards et de bassins qui permettent la surveillance de l’écoulement de l’eau et l’entretien des galeries. Ce réseau souterrain est toujours en parfait état, il commence ici et mesure 2km500. Jusqu’en 1932, les nombreuses sources de la commune fournissent l’eau potable aux habitants et alimentent puits et lavoirs. Aujourd’hui les captages d’Asnières-sur-Oise alimentent tout le secteur.
