This tour takes you along the old Route de France ceded to the King in 1661 by the Treaty of Vincennes. It is still known today as the Queen's Road, which dates back to the sumptuous journey of Marie Leszczinska who crossed Lorraine to join her husband, the young King Louis XV, in Fontainebleau.
At the end of the 1870 war, Chambrey was situated on the Franco-German border. To show his power to visitors coming from Nancy, Kaiser Wilhelm I had the impressive imperial railway station built there, from which your tour starts.
