Tour de l'étang de la Pouge

L'étang de la Pouge, d'une superficie de 27 ha, est situé sur le territoire bocager des communes de Saint-Auvent, Saint-Cyr et Saint-Laurent-sur-Gorre, en partie Haut-Viennoise du Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin. La digue a été édifiée à la fin du XVIIIe siècle sur le ruisseau du Gorret, à l'amont de la confluence avec la Gorre, à une altitude de 253 mètres. Recensé à l'inventaire des zones naturelles d'intérêt écologique faunistique et floristique (ZNIEFF) du Limousin et inclus au site inscrit des vallées de la Gorre et du Gorret, il est également intégré au réseau européen des sites Natura 2000.

L'observatoire ornithologique est accessible toute l'année. Sans les déranger, il permet d'observer de nombreux oiseaux présents sur l'étang selon les saisons : héron cendré, chevalier guignette, grande aigrette, grèbe huppé, sarcelle d'hiver, foulque macroule, martin pêcheur, etc.

Discover the natural riches of the Etang de la Pouge, in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin, near the picturesque village of Saint Auvent. A high-quality natural area renowned for its ecological richness, the site is made up of remarkable environments linked to the presence of water - small ponds, amphibian lawns, alder groves, ash groves - each sheltering characteristic flora and fauna (loose-flowered orchis, marsh iris, yellow-bellied sounder...). An ornithological observatory enables visitors to learn how to recognize waterfowl (grey heron, great egret, moorhen, mallard duck...). An ideal place for nature lovers! The site is maintained and preserved by the Département de la Haute-Vienne, which works with local partners to control invasive species and improve water quality.

The Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix sanctuary is located 200m from the town of St-Auvent, at the most picturesque point of the Gorre river, whose bed is cluttered with rocks, resulting in the formation of numerous rapids and several wooded islands. Commonly referred to as "the little Lourdes of the Limousin", this vast estate is characterized by its many cultural and religious discoveries: the grotto, reminiscent of Lourdes, the Oratory on the hill (Mont des Béatitudes), the oratory of Notre-Dame de Pontmain, the Way of the Cross, the chapel of Notre Dame de la Paix, the pilgrims' shelter, various statues of St. Bernadette, Our Lady of Fatima...and so on. The site is a haven of peace, ideal for contemplation, meditation or simply a peaceful stroll.
