This route offers a beautiful view of the Laffrey Lakes.
An easy walk that can also be done with the family. Do not hesitate, if the weather allows it, to make a “swimming stop” in the lake.

Located in the oldest house of La Mure, the museum explains the history of Matheysine and its inhabitants, through exhibition of objects, maquettes and pictures.Tucked away in the old town is the Maison Caral, home to the Musée Matheysin since 1994. La Mure’s museum houses collections relating to the Matheysine plateau, and the nearby Beaumont and Valbonnais areas. Archeology (prehistory, Roman Gaul and medieval periods) and the Wars of Religion (the Siege of La Mure in 1580) give way to rooms devoted to anthracite mining, peasant life, glove-makers and itinerant peddlers. These used to be the trademark activities of this mid-Alpine region. The last few rooms feature sculptors and painters of the region in the 19th and 20th centuries. Since 2012 part of the museum has displayed the work of abstract painter Claude Garanjoud (1926-2005). Exhibits also include the exhibition dedicated to Olivier Messiaen, a summer visitor to the Matheysine for more than 50 years. And each season the museum offers a new temporary exhibition.
This musuem is about the mining exploitation through the visit of the gallery, an exhibition and a film to tell you the story of miners.
No matter if it’s for an idleness day, a playful moment with family or to enjoy sailing’s pleasures, it’s your choice how you would like to encounter the lake of Laffrey.Lac de Laffrey is truly at the gateway to the Matheysine region. Just 30 minutes south of Grenoble, it's a gateway to unspoilt nature, yet within easy reach of the capital of the Alps. The exceptional setting offers a multitude of gentle water sports: rowing boats, pedalos, sailboats. No motorboats, just the sound of water, birds and crickets in summer. Around the lake, you'll also find a restaurant, a snack bar, an accrobranche park (Air Park) and an inflatable playground (Le Vinceland). Swimming is unsupervised, and dogs and fires/barbecues are prohibited. Traffic on the lake is reserved exclusively for authorized watersports clubs and the local fishing club. It is forbidden to launch personal watercraft (inflatable canoes, windsurfers, paddles, etc.) unless you have paid the 2€ Cholonge water sports club membership fee.
