A nature trail that takes you to the 3 Geneva mountains: the Salève, the Voirons and the Vuache. Just a few minutes from downtown Switzerland, on the French side, the Monts du Genevois offer you a trip to the summit!
From Annemasse to Machilly.
Lac de Machilly (approx. 12km): a natural environment that will delight wilderness lovers and fishing enthusiasts.
Ascent to the highest point in Les Voirons (29km): Le Signal des Voirons offers several viewpoints over Lac Léman, the Salève, the Chablais mountains and the Alps.
Descend along the same road, then head for Boëge. Pass through a number of small villages, then Fillinges, Arthaz and on to Monnetier-Mornex (64 km), a traditional tourist village between the Petit and Grand Salève, set in a rocky fault.
Crossing the Salève, a massif overlooking Geneva and Lake Geneva, it offers a pleasant walk along a beautiful tourist route:
The upper station of the Salève cable car (71 km): panoramic view, children's garden, botanical area, departure point for hiking trails.
L'Observatoire and surrounding area (73 km): restaurant, panoramic view, paragliding runway 5 minutes' walk away, Buddhist temple and orientation table.
La route des Trois Lacs and the Faverges Rocks: magnificent views of Mont Blanc, the Alps and the Arve Valley.
La Croisette (77 km): small, welcoming village with characteristic mountain inns, beautiful views of Mont Blanc. Very sunny in winter when the fog lifts from the plain.
Le Grand Piton: the highest point of the Salève massif, at 1380 m, the Tour du Piton is a typical Salève panorama, accessible only on foot in around 15 minutes.
Passing close to the Chateau des Avenières, down to Saint-Blaise (90 km). Cross the countryside through various villages to Chaumont (110 km), at the foot of the Vuache.
Smaller than the Salève and Voirons peaks, the Vuache still rises to 1105 metres, and offers numerous hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty. This circuit follows the Vuache to its other end: Fort l'Ecluse (126 km), a magnificent fortified military building overlooking the Rhône.
Return to Annemasse via the plain.
Total: 163 km (approx. 3h30 driving time, not including breaks).
