Winter walks : Plan Bois via Praz Salvard
Description
A long and pretty walk down through the forest on a snowclad road, well away from the slopes ; the walks allows to discover a large pine forest, with its clearing and hamlets, known as "Les Montagnettes"
Take the Lac Noir gondola to access the plateau of Plan Bois. Follow the signposts down towards the "Plan Bois" restaurant, and behind it to a forest track. When you reach signs "Praizes dessus", follow the route left through into the forest ; continue onwards down this road until the hamlet of "Praz Salvard", uninhabited during the winter.
In Praz Salvard, leave the road, following signs to the right indicating "Les Coches". Follow this itinerary until you reach the "Orgère" parking area, 10 minutes form the centre of les Coches.
Do not forget to turn right in Praz Salvard to return to Les Coches.

The team at the CRISTAL DES NEIGES welcomes you in winter from 9am until the ski slopes close. Located at Lac Noir gondola arrival station, accessible for non-skiers.On MONT BLANC run, the restaurant offers: * Breakfast * Lunch, à la carte or self-service (12 - 3pm) * Snacks (before 12 and after 3pm) Inside or on our terrace, LE CRISTAL DES NEIGES is a popular meeting place for skiers and non-skiers. Plan Bois "Chez Laurette"
The Chalet du Plan Bois "Chez Laurette" is in Plan Bois hamlet at the top of Lac Noir gondola, in the heart of nature.Above all, it's a unique panorama...! The atmosphere is simple and warm, and Isabelle and her team make it a point of honor to give you the warmest of welcomes. You'll discover a mountain setting full of charm. Whether you're enjoying a sunny break with a salad, one of the many excellent home-cooked dishes or a local fruit tart by the fireplace or in the cushions of the cosy dining area, you'll have a great time in the mountains. In summer, Isabelle awaits you in this authentic and charming place. Situated at the start of several hiking trails to La Plagne, Mont Saint Jacques ... In summer only, you can "Déjeuner sur l'herbe"! A gourmet picnic presented in a pretty wicker basket for a country-style lunch in the wooded surroundings of the Plan Bois plateau. Baskets for 2 to 4 people are to be ordered the day before, before 4pm from the restaurant. Each basket includes : - a salad (different each day) - choice of: quiche / charcuterie platter / cold roast - a dessert in a "Le Parfait" jar (e.g. tiramisu, vanilla cream, etc.) Possibility of ordering a bottle of wine in addition (corkscrew supplied). Basket to be collected before 12 noon on day of picnic; basket returned the same day. Picnic basket : 12€/pers.

Specialities From here and there.You can join us easily in Alpine skiing or surfing, in cross-country skiing, snowshoes or even on foot. We are halfway up situated on the bottom of the Plateau de Bois and easily accessible for all, that you are novice or experienced skiers. Sunny and quiet site. The pause of your stay to Montchavin-Les Coches: sample at will a royal raclette after the closure(lock) of tracks then, to come down again in the station , participate in your own framed torchlight descent, for your safety, by ski instructors. In summer, easy access by feet from Les Coches resort (1h).

Location complements
The trail starts from a place called l'Orgère above Les Coches.
There is a parking lot where you can park according to availability, and then take the Crévaillet road to reach the trailhead if you are coming directly by car.
From Montchavin, take the Coches gondola lift and then the Telebufette down to the center of Les Coches and then, in the direction of the ESF, pass the Origan restaurant and take the path through the chalets to L'Orgère.
From Les Coches, take the Place des commerces, then head for the Origan restaurant and take the stairs opposite to take the path through the chalets to L'Orgère.
