This mountain pasture coomb was the scene of French resistance to the occupation during the last world war. This epic is symbolized by a commemorative monument, the work of sculptor Giglioli, erected in 1973.
Leaving Annemasse, head for La Roche-sur-Foron on the D1205 and D903.
La Roche-sur-Foron (18 km): beautiful church with elegant Savoyard bell tower - Plain Château old quarter.
Thorens-Glières (32 km): Château des comtes de Sales (15th century) (visit in summer) - Birthplace of Saint-François-de-Sales.
Plateau des Glières (45 km) - Altitude 1440 m: Mountain pastures - Monument commemorating the resistance of the Haute-Savoie maquis - Hiking - Cross-country skiing.
Pont de la Caille (87 km): Old 19th-century suspension bridge over the river "Les Usses" - (140 m clearance).
Col du Mont-Sion (100 km) - Altitude 786 m: Descent to the foot of Mont Salève, with views of Geneva, Lake Geneva and the Jura chain.
Return to Annemasse via Collonges-sous-Salève (total approx. 110 km).
