In Haute Savoie, 30 kilometers south of Lake Geneva, Abondance is a village resort in the Portes du Soleil. Discover the Abbey of Abondance and its cloister, the Maison du Val, an interpretation centre on the making of Abondance cheese and the agriculture of the valley. The chalets of the Abondance valley are typical of mountain life. Several centuries ago, religious people from neighbouring Switzerland settled here. The Abbey of Abondance spread beyond the borders of Savoy. All around, the village was built little by little. The Abbey of Abondance, the architectural jewel of the valley, contains fabulous artistic treasures. It has remained intact and has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1875. A visit to this place allows you to discover its church, cloister and conventual buildings.

In a traditional hamlet, the Mont Chauffé Gaec propose you the Abondance cheese. Abondance chees rewarded many times at the show of agriculture of Paris.

Mont Chauffé is a 3 kilometre long ridge overlooking Abondance and Ubine, its highest point is 2093m. Its vertiginous ridge is accessible for experienced climbers.Summit accessible by hikers with climbing equipment only, for experienced climbers, generally from mid-June to mid-September, dates subject to change depending on weather conditions. Please check with tourist offices or mountain guides before attempting to access the summit.
