A mast, a rotor, blades and a nacelle: These are the four elements of a windmill capable of converting the kinetic energy of the
wind into electricity. A great many of these windmills may be seen along the roads that wind their way across the Lorraine plateau. Slender, graceful or majestic? It’s up to you to determine how you think these new machines blend into the landscape.
From these hills, you will catch sight of another means of generating electricity from a source of heat in the nearby forest plain
of Warndt. The cooling towers of Emile Huchet power plant, built in 1948, are an imposing sight. This power plant is located close to pits where its raw material, coal, was mined.
