Katzenberg circuit

Hêtre remarquable
Credit : Communauté de Communes du Pays Haut Val d'Alzette

Description

Located at the north-western tip of the Moselle department, on the border with Luxembourg, Audun-le-Tiche has been established and developed over the centuries in the heart of a network of tributary valleys of the Alzette.
The Katzenberg, whose translation from the Franconian language means "fortified mountain", was the location of a community of people in the Neolithic period. Its dominant position allowed them to keep an eye on the surrounding area.
