Eglise Saint Nicolas
L’église Saint Nicolas étonne celui qui la découvre. Elle semble tourner le dos bien qu’elle soit dans la bonne orientation ouest pour la façade et est pour le Choeur. Faites le tour, ses belles proportions avec son mélange de pierres blanches pour les murs et de grès pour les soubassements sont rythmées par quelques contreforts. Incrustées dans les murs, quelques anciennes plaques funéraires, dont une côté nord présentant un prêtre en chape priant à genoux, et l’on remarque également un cadran solaire du XVIe ou XVIIe. En arrivant devant le porche, on est saisi par son effet non symétrique occasionné par l’escalier menant au clocher. L’église offre un exemple d’édifices flamands à trois nefs, une construction typique appelée « hallekerque ». Elle semble avoir adopté définitivement ce plan après une reconstruction vers 1684 suite à un incendie de l’église primitive en 1656. Avant de poursuivre, notez que le Monument aux Morts porte le nom des hommes de Péronne morts lors de la guerre de Crimée sous Napoléon III.
Belvedère
Montez jusqu’en haut du belvédère et prenez à gauche. De ce point de vue, on peut observer la tour-relais de Villeneuve d’Ascq, la tour clocher de Bouvines et les marais de la Marque.
Marais de la Marque
Cet espace naturel remarquable, partagé entre les communes de Fretin, Péronne-en-Mélantois et Templeuve, a été entièrement réaménagé par le Département afin de pouvoir accueillir les promeneurs tout en préservant sa richesse écologique. Cette vallée était initialement occupée par de grandes forêts humides. Défrichées à partir du XVIIIe siècle, celles-ci furent transformées en marais pour laisser place à l'agriculture. Le reste des terrains impropres aux activités économiques ou agricoles était systématiquement planté de peupliers. L’objectif est d'abattre progressivement ces peupliers et de les remplacer au fur et à mesure par une grande diversité d'essences régionales, afin de transformer ces peupleraies en boisements riches et diversifiés. Les essences utilisées peuvent être, pour les arbres, le Chêne, le Charme, l'Aulne, l'Erable, le Frêne, le Saule... et pour les arbustes le Cornouiller, l'Eglantier, le Fusain, le Noisetier, le Prunellier, le Sorbier, le Troène, la Viorne…
Ferme du Gruez
Cette ferme, autrefois appelée la Gruelle, apparaît dès 1275 : don de Marguerite comtesse de Flandre à l'abbaye Notre Dame de la Treille à Lille. Mise en vente en 1792 au titre des biens nationaux.
