Snowshoeing itinerary : le domaine de l'Essert

All along your itinerary, on this sunny side, you will discover the built heritage that makes the richness of the Abondance Valley. A breathtaking view of the Essert ski area and the Tavaneuse mountains.From the car park of the Plagnes lake, go down towards the Saint Anne chapel. From the Saint Anne chapel, follow the road for about a hundred metres and reach the Saint Guérin chapel on your right. Pass near the Saint-Guérin chapel and then climb up to the Tetagottay chalets. The path continues through the forest to an oratory and then to the Saint-Théodule chapel. You can see the Plagnes lake and Ardens. From there, go back down towards the farms of Follebin and follow part of the path up to the chalets of Tetagottay. Then head towards Chez Les Rouges, cross the road and follow the path that leads to the Lac des Plagnes.

The Essert gondola provides access to the restaurant, a 50-meter walk from the arrival station. Families can enjoy the view of the "Covagny" slope and watch young and old discover the joys of skiing.From the top of the gondola, you can follow marked snowshoe trails to the Pointe des Follys or the Brion chalets. You can also snowshoe back to the village, or take the gondola back.

The Pointe des Follys (1674m) is accessible to hikers in summer and in winter to skiers and snowshoers, it offers a view of the Vallée d'Abondance, Lake Geneva and the Dents du Midi.

During the tourist season, the inter-communal shuttle line C (Colombus) takes you up and down the Abondance valley, between Chevenoz and Châtel.

Line 12 runs between Thonon-les-Bains and Châtel, serving the towns of Marin, Champanges, Larringes, Saint-Paul-en-Chablais, Vinzier, Chevenoz, Vacheresse, Bonnevaux, Abondance and La Chapelle d'Abondance.
