Description

A lovely easy walk, accessible to people with reduced mobility and 4x4 pushchairs, in the enchanting setting of Rosuel. In a short loop, you will walk through the Rosuel gully, under the protective eye of peaks of over 3,000 m
A gouille, in local dialect, is a very small body of water. The one in Rosuel is no less magnificent! The mountains are reflected in its impossibly blue waters, sometimes emerald in the sunlight, sometimes cobalt when the clouds invade the sky. It is the perfect place to contemplate and marvel. In the background: glaciers as far as the eye can see and nature preserved by the Vanoise National Park only a hundred metres away! If you listen carefully, you may hear waterfalls flowing down the Rochers des Sétives in the distance. And if you are really lucky, you may see the bearded vulture flying over the hamlet of La Gurraz. The experience would not be complete without a picnic break on the edge of the water (barbecues and toilets available), followed by a visit to one of the wildlife exhibitions in the Maison du Parc national de la Vanoise to learn more about the mountain environment.

ACCESS / DEPARTURE :
- If by car, park at the Rosuel car park (free).
- Start of the trail at the Rosuel car park.
- Head towards Les Bettières, pass in front of the petanque pitch and turn left before the wooden footbridge.
- Walk along the gully, then the football pitch and turn left at the end of the pitch.
- Go along the football pitch again and return to the Rosuel car park.

Palais de la Mine

Les Monts d'Argent was the name of the municipality of Peisey during the French Revolution, reflecting the importance of the lead and silver minesDiscovered in 1644, the vein of galena (silver lead sulphide) was exploited until 1866. Throughout the 1st Empire from 1802 to 1814, the Ecole Française des Mines was based in Peisey. It trained 70 engineers before being transferred to Paris to become the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines. Located in Pont-Baudin, the Monts d'Argent site has a museum trail along which you will find reading panels explaining the history of the exploitation of these lead-silver mines, and the importance they had on the history of the Peisey-Nancroix valley. In the open air, you will have the chance to see the remains of the various installations that allowed the extraction, washing and smelting of the ore extracted in particular from the St-Victor gallery, the tomb of the knight Rosenberg who is buried on the site of the mines, as well as the "Palais de la mine", in reality a building where the student engineers were housed, situated at the end of a magnificent alley of larch trees, on a 3 hectare site, in a grandiose natural environment. The museum trail is freely accessible all year round. Guided tours are offered on request by the Mine Palace Association from May to November.
