Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

Start- Opposite the start sign, take the path on the left for about 250 metres, following the fence. Cross and close the gate.

1- At the reservoir, turn right and follow the yellow signs and theme markers. At the crossroads, take the shortcut (green arrows) down to the power line. Otherwise, continue straight ahead.

2- At the top of the track, turn left. Pass under the power line. Climb up the hillside on the winding track, leaving the wood on your left. Follow the theme markers. At the top, go around the summit to the right and enjoy the 360° panorama.

3- After the station entitled "Qu'est-ce qu'un volcan, les monts du Cantal, un stratovolcan complexe" (What is a volcano, the Cantal mountains, a complex stratovolcano), continue straight ahead, heading for Lac du Pêcher. After about 50 metres, turn right onto the track that leads down into the woods. After a few hairpin bends, turn right again up the wooden steps and continue downhill.

4- Before the fence, turn left. At the entrance to a meadow dotted with rocks, go round to the left to avoid the peat bog. After 250 m, turn right and follow the theme markers and yellow arrows.

5- At the intersection, turn right to discover the bird observatory, then retrace your steps to the crossroads. Turn right, pass the watering troughs and return to the parking lot and starting point via the same path you took on the outward journey.
