Departing from Abondance village center, you'll follow the path along the Dranse river.
You'll climb slightly up to the heights of Abondance through the woods, and from a merlon you'll discover a lovely view of the village, its mountains and its bell tower.
You'll pass near the Abbey of Abondance (open daily during the summer season).
You'll then reach the Maison du Fromage Abondance, where you can take a break to discover how Abondance cheese is made and the different cheeses of Savoie through an exhibition (days and opening times available from the tourist information office).
From here, take the forest path along the banks of the Dranse to reach the village center.

Founded in the 12th century by canons and occupied by Cistercian monks from the 17th century, the Abbey of Abondance was abolished in 1761. It reveals the power of a gothic mountain architecture and conceals fabulous artistic treasures.Founded in the 12th century, the Abbey has left its mark on the Abondance valley. The monastic buildings, where the monks lived, still bear witness to the power of the Abbey in the Middle Ages. Transported back to medieval Savoy thanks to the 15th century wall paintings which adorn the cloister, you will be seduced by the peacefulness of the place. The exhibition "From history to art: sacred heritage in the Abondance valley" invites you to explore, in part of the old convent buildings, the collection of sacred art made up of exceptional objects. As you enter the abbey church, with its Gothic mountain architecture, you will be amazed by the trompe-l'oeil decorations from the 19th century and the rich furniture. Independent access to the church, according to the opening hours defined by the parish.

A picnic table is available from the banks of the Dranse at the residence Les Campanules. Other tables available along Dranse's Edge Road.

0/ Departure from the town center of Abondance.
1/ Head for the chemin des bords de Dranse (road at the left of the Bouvet Sport store). Follow this path through the forest to the Carres bridge.
2/ At the Carres bridge, cross the RD22 and follow the path on your left that goes up. You reach the Route du Mont through the forest, go down the road, then take the sentier des amoureux on your right.
3/ Rejoin the RD22, a small path runs alongside the road in the Plaine d'Offaz field, follow it to the Maison du Fromage Abondance.
4/ Take the small bridge behind the Maison du Fromage Abondance and follow the path along the banks of the Dranse on your left towards the village. You'll pass the adventure course, pump track and children's playground. You'll then reach the village center by the road.
