Le lac de la Plagne

Description

An azure-blue lake in which the snow-covered peaks are reflected, the sound of the tarine bells brightening up a truly mountainous atmosphere: you are in the heart of the Vanoise, as if isolated from the world, a place where contemplation is a must!

Taking a path to reach a high altitude lake is always an end in itself, but here the route is also part of the "journey": From the Rosuel refuge with its grass-covered roof and on this mythical GR5, imagine large rocky escarpments where you can guess the paths created by man in the rock itself, admire the numerous waterfalls which mark out the path, smell the Tarine cows tasting the green and fresh grass, You will be able to taste the exceptional Beaufort cheese from the mountain pastures, jump like a goat over the small meandering streams that feed the Ponturin and the numerous peat bogs, and finally reach the lake of La Plagne, in the heart of the Vanoise National Park, where rainbow trout fishing is a must. And let yourself be tempted by a mountain cuisine at the Entre-le-Lac refuge with, why not, a night in a yurt: the spleen is not far away! but you will have to come back down because the best things always come to an end.

Sétives's Waterfall

Very nice waterfalls and landscape, at the gate of the Vanoise national Park.Located in the valley of Peisey (south face sector), these waterfalls are more impressive in spring during the snow melt. In winter, they are frozen, climbing is often forbidden because they are too close to the bearded lammergeyer's nesting area. In the evant of the vultures would not nest in this zone, they must be climbed only by cold and cloudy weather or early in the morning. All these waterfalls are facing south and are dominated by avalanche paths. They are quite situated between 1700m and 2100m. They take the sun 3 hours a day at the beginning of January and more than 5 hours a day in February. Generally, they are unavailable from the middle of February. On sunny days, it is strongly recommended to start from the car park before 7 am. Request information from the Mountain Guides office for ice climbing.

Entre Le Lac mountain hut

Located in the heart of the Parc de la Vanoise in an old sheepfold converted into a refuge, at an altitude of 2145m, it benefits from a protected environment in the heart of the alpine fauna and flora allowing the observation of large mammals and birds of prey. The refuge is privately run. It is located on the "Tarentaise" side of the Vanoise National Park, on the GR5, at the edge of the PLagne lake, source of the Ponthurin. You will go up between the Mont-Pourri massif, its glaciers and the waterfalls that flow down from it, and the Aliet massif. The GR 5 passes 10 minutes from the refuge and links it to the Col du Palet and Tignes. The refuge is open and guarded permanently from mid-June to mid-September. (no winter refuge). How to get there : - from Peisey-Nancroix and the Parc de Rosuel refuge-gate (car parks, shuttles from Landry - SNCF station and Peisey, refuge, catering, via ferrata), in 2h30 (average time) of walking on a good path on the left or right bank of the Ponthurin, - from Les Arcs and the Mont Pourri refuge (two hours), - from Tignes-le-Lac (3 hours via the Col du Palet refuge), - from the Martin refuge (via the Col de la Sachette or the Tourne), - from the Champagny-en-Vanoise valley (4 hours from the Plaisance refuge via the Plan Séry pass or the Aimes pass). Start: Refuge de Rosuel

1/ Follow the well-marked path (GR5) straight south, which rises steadily and crosses a vast alder grove until you reach the Rèbe passage (wooden platform). Very nice views of the Platières glaciers and the Nant Putors waterfall, at the end of the melezin.

6/ At the Chalets de La Plagne continue along the Ponturin to the next intersection.

7/ Turn right

8/ Turn left to reach the Refuge de Rosuel
