Description

This lake is found near the Pormenaz Alpine pastures, a mountain site that overlooks Servoz and Passy not far from the Moede-Anterne refuge. Fishing is permitted in the lake.

From the pretty fountain, take the road of the Coast until the first bend. A path goes to the right towards the Gorges de la Diosaz and crosses the torrent of Souay. Go up leaving the Tête de la Fontaine and Bajulaz trails on the right. Follow a long steep slope to a pyramid marker to reach the
reach the Chalets des Alpages de Pormenaz (1,925 m) 3 hrs. Cross flat to the
to the Chalets de Chavanne-Neuve (15 minutes from the itinerary) towards the Pointe Noire de Pormenaz : geological curiosity to see, then towards the Lac de Pormenaz.

Possible departure from the Moulins d'en-Haut (859 m) above Servoz,
from where you can join the above itinerary near the Souay torrent.
Other itineraries are possible from Servoz or Passy - Plaine joux.

Pormenaz lake and mountain

In the heart of the nature reserve, Pormenaz lake sits perched at an altitude of 1,945 m in the small Pormenaz Massif, which forms part of the Aiguilles Rouges crystalline range.Contemplate Mont Blanc from a different angle. Travel a few kilometers out of Chamonix and find yourself alone, like the great explorers in their time. Pormenaz is still the preferred terrain of shepherds and loners. From this long crest, a dreamy mountain landscape is revealed.

Maison du Lieutenant

In the heart of a historic building, discover an interpretation center on mountain agriculture, its environment, its products and its know-how.Throughout the year, take the whole family to visit the Maison du Lieutenant, its permanent and temporary exhibitions, and discover the region through the many events and outings on offer. The permanent exhibition, "Mountain Farming, the Heart of the Territory", bridges the gap between the alpine culture of yesteryear, today's profession and tomorrow's challenges for mountain farming. The Maison du Lieutenant offers a unique scenographic tour designed for all ages. Discover its animated model of the territory, its edutainment space and modules, its multimedia content and its collection of antique objects. Temporary exhibition: "Plant Inspirations". As part of its new temporary theme of ethnobotany, the Maison du Lieutenant welcomes "Inspirations végétales - quand la nature nourrit la création". An exhibition based on the artistic approach of artist-designer Fanny Crochard, illustrating the link between the human and the plant in art. The Maison du Lieutenant is also a place for living and sharing. All year round, it offers a full and varied program of events, workshops and outings to help you (re)discover the richness of our region: the cultural heritage of the Alps, farms and mountain pastures, natural areas, the tastes and flavours of Mont Blanc, know-how, etc. Groups welcome all year round by reservation (fee payable).
