Known since the 11th century, the village of Narcastet lies between the banks of the Gave de Pau and the hills overlooking the Ossau valley. Close to the Safran Engines Helicopters aeronautical production site, its history is closer to the transhumance to the Pont-long or the pilgrimages of Saint Ambroise.
This panneauté trail follows in the footsteps of the ancient motte castrale, where the village church now stands, and the château seigneurial. A stopping-off point on the Notre-Dame de Piétat pilgrimage, Saint-Ambroise is home to a reliquary statue and a portrait reputed to cure skin diseases. An activity for the whole family, and a break from the hustle and bustle to take in the beautiful views.
