DE SAINT-FERRÉOL AUX CAMMAZES
Description
Discover a 16.5 km walk in the heart of the Montagne Noire, between Lake Saint-Ferréol and Les Cammazes. Walk through the Aiguille Forest, admire the Vauban arch and enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Pyrenees. A getaway combining nature and heritage, following in the footsteps of the history of the Canal du Midi.

Detailed stages
1 - From the car park, turn right onto the unpaved path round the lake. 100 metres further on, the path climbs to the right
up the embankment and winds through the woods. The path comes out onto a small road, which you should follow to the left.
Just before the RD629, turn right and walk alongside the road for 300 metres.
2 - Head up the Chemin de la Tour de Fournès at a steep angle. Continue uphill along the next hairpin bend to the right, down Rue
Auguste Palleville, before carrying on straight ahead through the Domaine de la Gaïa. The Picotalen track will
take you down through the forest to just below the water treatment plant. At the first junction, continue along the
track on the left.
3 - Head down the path on the left. Cross the stream, then follow the path to the right, then right again at
the next junction. Continue along the path for 800 metres until you reach a turning area. Then head back up the
track to find the water pipe.
4 - Take the path that climbs immediately to the right. Follow the main path, marked in yellow, ignoring
all the other tracks, until you reach a large clearing
5 - From the clearing, continue along the signposted path to the next junction. Then turn right.
Old potholes are still visible on either side of the path. At the junction where four paths meet, turn onto the
path on the far right and carry on straight ahead. Continue to follow the signposted path.
6 - Continue along the signposted path, crossing the Adroit wetland, until you gradually emerge from the
forest. The path then becomes a track running along the edge of the woodland. Continue along the small road until you reach the RD629.
7 - Head back into the village along the road (take care), then take the first street on the right (C1). Cross the
ditch and head up towards [ > the Vauban arch].
8 - Turn right, following the GR® 7 and the RD629, until you reach the school (village hall car park).
