This easy walk is possible whatever the season. The "Lac Vert" or green lake, is a protected site located at the heart of a forest. The lake is dominated by the Fiz mountain range and sits opposite the Mont-Blanc.
From Plaine Joux a footpath leads down into the forest; during the summer season it is possible to walk around the lake in about 15 minutes. The transparent waters enable one to observe the bed of the lake, an accummulation of trees and plants. These elements, combined with the prescence of blue algae, give to the lake its remarkable emerald green colour.
