La Vallée glaciaire du Valtin cycle route

Departure point: Valtin town hall parking lot. Head towards and through the village center. You're in the heart of the former glacial valley of the Haute Meurthe.
This typical Vosges village, nestled among forests, rocky escarpments and high-altitude meadows, offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the Hautes Vosges.

Continue on the D23 to the small Etang des Dames, then turn right up the Rudlin forest road to the Col du Louchbach.

At the pass, you join the Route des Crêtes. Turn right. You'll pass the Lac Blanc resort. You can go down to the dam and back to enjoy the lagoon-blue waters of the lake.

Continue along the Route des Crêtes, entering the Tanet - Gazon du Faing nature reserve, an emblematic area of high thatch, offering wide-open panoramas.

At the Col de la Schlucht (1,139 m), the highest road pass in the Vosges and a historic crossing point between Lorraine and Alsace, turn right and go as far as Le Collet, then take the first right onto the D417, which descends to Le Valtin, where you return to your starting point.

A sporty, panoramic loop, ideal for discovering the Route des Crêtes, the hautes chaumes and the great high altitude landscapes of the Vosges.
