Le Maillot à Pois Vosgien cycling route

Description

This route corresponds to the cyclosportive "Les Ballons Vosgiens", organized every two years in alternation with "La Vosgienne". It's a long and demanding loop, reserved for experienced cyclists, with many passes and panoramic views emblematic of the Vosges.
From Gérardmer, head for Xonrupt-Longemer, then climb the Col de la Schlucht (1139 m). Just before the pass, turn right onto the Route des Crêtes and follow it for 19 km. Turn left onto the D27 towards Munster.
After descending the Col du Platzerwaezel, turn right just before entering the village of Sondernach towards the Petit Ballon (1163 m). Climb to the summit, then descend to the valley via Wasserbourg. Before entering Soultzbach-les-Bains, turn right towards the Firstplan pass.
After the pass, descend via Osenbach and Wintzfelden, then just before Soultzmatt, fork right onto the D40 towards Col de Bannstein. Continue through Saint-Gangolphe, Lautenbach and Linthal. The road takes you on a tough climb to Le Markstein (1180 m).
