Mill and Chapelle de Castels Hike

Start from the Castels mill. On the road, turn right toward the small bridge spanning the waterway that feeds the mill. Go down before the bridge and head toward the "mouline". Come back by following the riverbanks, then cross the bridge over the Barguelonne.

Turn right onto the small paved lane just after the bridge. Follow this small road for about 550 meters.

Leave the paved lane to take a path on the left that runs alongside the stream. Cross the small wooden bridge and climb straight up until you reach the rock outcrops. Go around them on the left. Take the path on the right, which loops at this point and goes around the chapel from below.

Get back on the trail, which then descends onto the departmental road. Cross it and take the woodland path opposite, passing above the spring. Upon exiting the path, follow the road to the left for 1 km.

After the locality known as "La Tourasse," turn right onto the dirt path between two fields that leads to the "Lanauze" farm (a small group of buildings including two dovecotes).

Pass between the buildings and head down to the left via a dirt path that then climbs back up toward "La Surette."

Turn right onto the road, which turns into a path and offers beautiful views of the valley before descending through the woods toward the hamlet of Labro.

You will then follow the road to the left for 1 km.

At the right-angle bend, take the path that is an old Roman road used by local farmers as an access route to their crops. In the past, the crops were mostly vineyards located on the hillside (a few small stone huts/sheds can still be seen). Pass behind the village of "Coupet," which runs parallel to the Roman road, 300 meters away in the valley. Our path then joins the road, which you walk down to return toward the Barguelonne bridge. Cross the bridge again to reach the starting point.
